George Washington High School offers a variety of clubs and organizations supported by the school to meet student interests. These range from language art clubs, fine arts organizations, environmental clubs and honorary societies. Our clubs provide hands-on opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, diversity, and a sense of culture and community. This establishes a strong foundation and instills confidence to help our scholars advance in the future. *More clubs and organizations will be added in the future.*

1st Act Robotics Club

Description	1st Act Robotics is a hands-on, team-driven program where students explore engineering, design, programming and problem solving through real-world challenges. As participants in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and members of the Technology Student Association (TSA), students work together to build robots, create innovative designs, compete in statewide and regional STEM events.

Description	ACE (Academic Competition for Excellence) fast-paced activity where a team of four simultaneously compete with other District Schools in a timed contest with questions from all types of knowledge. There are both JV and Varsity teams.

Description

The GWHS Art Club offers students a welcoming, creative space to develop their artistic interests outside the regular classroom environment. Members explore a range of visual arts practices—including drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, digital art, and collaborative projects—while strengthening technical skills and personal style. The club supports student-driven ideas and frequently contributes to the GWHS community through murals, event decorations, exhibition displays, and service-oriented art initiatives. All GWHS students, regardless of experience level, are encouraged to participate. Meetings focus on hands-on experimentation, peer collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The GWHS Art Club is ideal for students seeking to expand their artistic abilities, connect with fellow creators, and play an active role in enhancing the visual culture of George Washington High School.

Description	The History Club is a competitive club working on creating various project types based on the National History Day theme "Revolution, Reaction, Reform." We will also participate in other forms of History-based competition including a speech category, History Bowl, and a History Escape Room.

Description	The GW Orchestra is comprised of 9th-12th grade students who began instruction in 6th grade. They play a wide range of music repertoire. Concerts and community performances are held throughout the year. The orchestra also participates in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association concert assessment.

GW Theatre Club

Description	The after-school theatre program is a club where students engage in various aspects of theatre arts, such as acting, improvisation, dance, and set design. This program is designed to be a creative outlet, build essential life skills, and often culminate in a final performance or showcase for friends and family.

Description

The mission of HOSA is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience. The purpose of this organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

Description	The Japanese Club provides students with hands-on opportunities to explore Japanese language and culture through engaging activities and events. Members participate in cultural experiences such as calligraphy, origami workshops, anime discussions, traditional crafts, and more while building community with fellow enthusiasts.

National Honor Society

Description

The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes scholarship, character, service, and leadership. Students who hold a GPA of 3.33 or higher at the end of the 1st semester of their junior year will receive an invitation to join the National Honor Society. They participate in meetings and various community service projects throughout the year. Each member must maintain the high standards that embody the National Honor Society.
