About Me
BIO:
Mr. Abourjilie, also known as Mr. Abo or Coach Abo, is a veteran high school social studies teacher and coach entering his 38th year in education! Coach ABO is also a father of three adult children, and dog dad to two. His wife is also a teacher here at GWHS. A 1988 Graduate of Virginia Tech, Coach ABO is also an alumni of J. Seargent Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA, and NC A&T University in Greensboro, NC. Teaching, Education, and Leadership are Coach ABO's passion and purpose in life, following only his faith and family. After 33 years as an educator (and 29 as a high school and middle school coach-- Football, Basketball -men's and women's- and Lacrosse) in NC, God, and his wife ;) , led him here to GWHS in 2021.
Coach ABO is also nationally and internationally known Author (Developing Character for Classroom Success: Strategies to Increase Responsibility, Achievement, and Motivation in Secondary Students), speaker and consultant. He loves his students and school, and says that his GW kids and experiences have been/ are a tremendous blessing in his life.
